Board of Certified Counselors

NBCC focuses on promoting quality counseling through certification.
We promote professional counseling to private and government organizations.
NBCC's certification program recognizes counselors who have
met predetermined standards in their training, experience, and performance
on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification
(NCE), the most portable credentialing examination in counseling.
NBCC has over 38,000 certified counselors. These counselors live
and work in the US and over 40 countries. Our examinations are used
by more than 45 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam to credential
counselors on a state level.
California
Registry of Professional counselors and Paraprofessionals

The purpose of The Registry is to promote the advancement of
quality counseling and service delivery practice by identifying
professional and paraprofessional practitioners who meet certain
defined standards and have voluntarily sought and obtained Registry
status.
Individuals listed in this directory must have obtained minimum
standards in four areas: experience, education, examination and
ethics. Each page lists the standards for each of the four specialty
areas: Professional Counselor, Professional Career Counselor, Professional
Rehabilitation Counselor and Career Paraprofessional.
